This site has been provided by the Combined Authority Returning Officer (CARO) to provide information about the election on Thursday 2 May 2024.
Here you will find all of the up-to-date information on the election including the Notice of Election, Statement of Persons Nominated, an electronic version of the booklet which will contain information, where provided, on each of the candidates, and the result following the election.
Election
On Thursday 2 May 2024 there will be an election for a Mayor for a new North East Mayoral Combined Authority.
People who are registered to vote in local elections for any of the seven constituent councils of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside or Sunderland are eligible to vote in this election.
Election Address Booklet
The Law requires the CARO to send a booklet to those registered electors which includes:

An election address (i.e. a statement) from each of the mayoral candidates who wish to be included in the booklet

Information on how to fill in your ballot paper and how the result will be calculated

Contact details for your Local Electoral Services Office.
